Default transmission oil service recommendaion

Hi! My car is 2006 530i sport with 65,000 miles on it. I was quoted $ 300 to have transmission oil and filter change from european shop. I also was quoted $90 for brake fluid flush. Should I have these services done now especially for the transmission oil change or wait till 100k miles on car. Thanks

To provide a suggestion/recommendation on the transmission fluid service, you will need to get more details, such as -
- Does that price include the replacement of trans filter?
- Will they replace entire amount of trans fluid OR just drop the pan and replace the partial fluid?
- Which trans fluid will they use, specifically?
- Will they reset trans adaptations after the trans service?

No matter who does the trans service, I do recommend the trans service at current mileage; don't wait until 100K miles.

I agree with PCY and HF, don't wait. $300 for all PCY listed is a great price, real close to DIY price actually. The transmission holds about 11.5 quarts of fluid, typically they drain it quickly and replace about 6 quarts. That isn't good enough for me, if you're going to have half old/half new, what's the point? Draining the remaining fluid takes hours since you have to wait for the Torque converter to drain and the lines.
The trans reset PCY mentioned is when they use an OBD 2 programmer to reset your transmission to default and "force" it to relearn your driving style, which takes about 1k miles for the trans tom adapt.

I thought BMW Transmission fluid was "lifetime" fluid as they claim, you guys recommend having it changed regardless of their "lifetime" claim?

Wait, you only have 65,000 mi. I changed mine at 98K mi. or so. you will see DIY here. My old e39 I changed once around the 85K-100K mark and since it hasn't been changed. I was recently told car is close to the 400K mi mark. I was not with the "lifetime fluid" remark but after much research i wouldn't throw it out the door either. Most owners obviously plan to keep their cars and the engine and tranny is not the weak point. besides, most cars get totalled out anyway. So it's your money, spend it how you want to. You can spend it wisely or waste it. it would be wiser for you to feed hungry people.
