I have a 2004 BMW 545i automatic that had a transmission oil leak. My local mechanic (who works on BMWs, Audis and Mercedes and has high marks in Yelp from other BMW owners) replaced the transmission oil pan and gasket. Leak is gone. However, in the 24 hours since I have had the car back I notice a thump and jerkiness at exactly 14 MPH as I decelerate, and at 7 MPH as I accelerate. It does not happen any other time. It occurs in both regular mode and sport mode but the thump/jerkiness is at a higher MPH (21 MPH or so on deceleration in Sport). Almost like it it was a manual transmission that was downshifted prematurely. It was not doing this before, or at least not that I noticed. Cause?
Thanks in advance.

how many miles on your car? was this the first fluid change for the car?

i wonder with all these transmission slam issues with our transmissions, if maybe the trans valve bodies are prone to being effected by debris in the fluid. the new fluid probably loosened up old dirt/grit in the transmission, and possibly is effecting a valve or piston in the trans. auto transmissions have many passage ways and valves which alter the flow of fluid depending on the gear engaged.

i have exactly the same problem after an oil change yesterday. so i doubt the debris idea. i iwonder if it had anything to do with the required gear shifting sequence recommended after the first fluid fill

Fixed it with INPA reseting the gearbox adaptation values

INPA
F4 E60
Transmission
Gearbox Control module GS19
F6 Activate
F3 Reset adaption values

65,000 miles on my car. I bought it at 34,000 miles and this being my first transmission oil change, I am presuming it is also the first for the car.
