Thumbs down

My worst nightmare had just happened to me today. The car has died out on me. The transmission malfunction fault came on and the car gradually dies out. Things like transmission won't shift smoothly and accordingly, power or active steering gradually going out, and acceleration is extremely slow to the point where it literally doesn't accelerate.

I have been looking around on the forum and the most common culprit could be the alternator. Can anybody chime in on their experience if it ever happened to them?

The combination of things you mention sounds to me like a charging system problem rather than a transmission malfunction.

I hope it is the battery and nothing else. I got it towed to the shop so i'm crossing my finger now.

If it didn't shift that'd be one thing but the steering fade is electric. It's most likely a charging failure. Trickle charge the battery and see what happens tomorrow.
