In my case, the car was fine for several days in between episodes.

I've been getting random Emissions messages first time it lasted for 2 days then went away for 5 days and then it came back on one start up and now its gone and has been gone for about 4 days...
But mines a Nov 04 built car... so Bad crankshaft sensor? I'm waiting till it comes on and wont go away or if I feel anything wrong then I'm going to take it in.

I am having all sorts of issues with mine. About two weeks ago I got error messages for ABS, active steering, increased emissions, and control systems. I took it to the dealer and he said it was because of an after market battery that wasn't strong enough to run the systems effectively. I got the battery replaced for $500 out of pocket. Then just last night it got even worse, all the same error messages plus engine malfunction/reduced power. All of my interior lights were flashing on and off along with my HUD and iDrive screen as well. I am so mad right now, the guy said it was my battery and it all started up again, I was on my way to a wedding with my bro and his wife. I no longer have any faith in this car, not one bit, a very sad day indeed

I am getting Transmission fault / Emmissions Error Msg after I had tramission leak fixed at a dealer in bay area.
Strange thing is, this is only happening every morning first 10 mins of driving, after 10 mins, i restarted the engine, everything work perfectly.
