I will be driving at like 40mph on a slight down hill and not on the gas an the trans will slam into a lower gear... kinda like I hit a pot hole. I am trying to figure out how to duplicate this consistently to show a SA and It happens like once a week. Has anyone had this issue?

It does that to give you some engine breaking othewise the car would get quicker and quicker coasting down hill. If you have you foot slightly on the accelerator then it wont down shift.

I am not talking about a down shift. Which I feel all the time... It feels like I just hit a huge pot hole with both tires. This is a violent slam and not a soft down shift.

Do a search for transmission slam. Was a prob on 545s - will require coding to correct if its the same issue. There are bulletins regarding trans slam for your SA.

+1 I had this on my '04 545, a well known issue. It is actually a harsh downshift from 2nd to 1st. Had it corrected with a software update. There is a bulletin...

I had the 1st gear slam fixed when my PROGMAN was updated last year. This is completely different. One thing that I may have not mentioned is this occurs at 40MPH and the car is in a much higher gear. I stilll have till 2010 on the warranty but I like to get this taken care of much sooner.

Nope, that doesn't sound like the infamous "slam"! Sorry but a trip to the dealer is in order. There is a hill descent feature in the car but living here in Louisiana, I can say I've never experienced it!
