Default tranny hops when came to a stop

2004 530i. whenever i come to a complete stop I wait like 2-3 seconds and you feel as if the car hops forward a little. Something with the tranny any thoughts?

use the search function on this site, type in 'transmission'. the potential problems run the gamut from low fluid to total transmission failure, and everything in between. almost all of these possibilities have been documented on this site.

could be any number of things, not all transmission related. My car had a hop when stopping and I ended up needing new front control arms as the bushings were worn out and had just enough movement to confuse the transmission. Thats probably a bad explanation, but by replacing them the problem went away. I think there is also a TCM (Transmission Control Module) flash fix to make sure the siftware is up to date on the TCM.

2004 525i here. I posted something similar last year regarding a transmission jerk after a downshift from 2 to 1, do a search. My problem was resolved after replacing mechatronic solenoids and a transmission flush. My recommendation to you is to just perform a transmission flush only and see if that works for you. Don't do anything more detailed, you might save more money than I did on this.

Like previously mentioned, do the fluid first and don't forget to reset transmission adaptation once the fluid and pan have been replaced. It may also be a good time to replace the mechatronics sleeves too, they have been know to leak. If the jerk is still there then R&R the solenoids. A lot about this have been discussed here. Good luck
