For some reason or another occasionally when I am driving (mostly on the freeway) my car will sputter and the Transmission light comes on (with the message to go to the nearest BMW dealership). I usually pull over and turn the car off and back on and everything is okay. I took it to the BMW dealership and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. They want me to try to bring it in when it actually has the message on the display. Any idea what this could be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

The codes should be stored in the car's computers. As an option because a picture is worth 1000 words, use your cell phone and take a picture of the error and check control messages. They will be date and time stamped for authenticity. Trust me - it works

Do you get a failsafe? Could be many things. I have seen this about 4x on different beamers (especially the x5 which was the worst) and the issue has always been the mass air flow sensor was bad. BMW could NEVER find the issue too after a few visits. I figured it out eventually on the x5. I bought a refurbished OEM from Napa and tested it for a month all was well so I handed in my old part as a core and got $120 back. So I ended up spending $80 all in all. Hopefully you have this issue and it's easy to fix.

Stats on your vehicle? and what other symptoms have you been having? Just die out or go into failsafe mode which is fixed by restarting?
