After two and a half years of ownership, 35,000 miles, two turbo's, one steering column, one set of rears and a couple of software updates I was coming up to the end of my three year warranty and decided it was time to part company and the search began for a replacement.

To be honest there was only going to be one other choice of car for me and it was this

Really chuffed with it and to top it off I'm getting 30mpg on my motorway journey into work each day.

Sweet! Congratulations on the new ride - miles and miles of fun to be had from it, I'm sure.

2 turbo's and one steering column in 35k doesn't bode well for BMW quality!
I've just had a result though. After constant niggling (and asking if they wanted to buy my car back) BMW have agreed to replace all the door seals as a 'goodwill' gesture So the 'creaky wooden boat' may well ride more like a ?40k car should!

Can I ask why you needed new steering column?, my 530D has a clunk noise from steering column when going over pot holes or dropped kerbs.

Congrats on a sweet ride!

I too have a 530d also with a clunk in the steering when turning harshly, going over bumps etc! could it be the steering column? I hope not!

Yep that was exactly my symptoms, hadn't noticed how bad it had got until it was fixed.
