The last couple of mornings i have had to park my car outside. The temperature has reached down to 15-20* both times. The car will display TPM MALFUNCTION! flash the warning lights on the dash and make a chime noise every 10 seconds on my way to work. Quite annoying, indeed . This is not the low tire warning-which I have had before-but rather a system malfunction. I must assume it is related to the cold temperature because the car is fine by the afternoon when I head home from work. Any thoughts? My dealer is over two hours away and the car has CPO (which I've found hasn't covered any of the problems I've had since I bought it) and I'd like to see of I can take care of this. Thanks.
EDIT: I also noticed my clock and date were reset and I drive was slower than normal. But I hadn't lost any of my other programming.

I'd start by inflating all 4 tires to the recommended pressure and resetting TPMS. Then try determining if your battery is failing. The clock and other settings needing to be reset are an indicator. Check the date on the post to see how old it is. It's almost impossible to use a VOM (volt-ohm meter) to determine the battery's health. Once that is ruled out it's possible that one of the TP module transmitter/receiver has failed.

+1, Yep. both of mine ALWAYS do this when the wether changes cold. Yellow light only. Normally, I find one or two tires with slightly less air pressure and then refill and check all tires accordingly. RESET.

Please read my post. This is NOT a low tire. It is a malfunction. As a matter of fact, the option to reset the TPMS is not even currently available.

I had same problem and this was my solution.Just so you know.
I started to reading from google different threads about tpm issues and find that someone spilled soda on his trunk and had a big mess, so then I remember that 2 days ago my ice chest full of ice and drinks flipped on my car trunk, so I go and take out my spare tire and found under an electronic I think it was a PDC board all sock with water. I disconected and blowed out let it dry plug it back and it seems that evrything is working fine.
Hope this helps some one.

I had the same problem but it was the battery in one of the sensors in the wheels. Installed a new sensor and all the TPMS malfunction errors went away. google "oewheels"

The clock and date resets are prime indicators of failing batteries. Since the TPMS is not an essential system the car may have turned it off to conserve power. By the afternoon the battery seems charged enough to reactivate TPMS. Next morning, after a night in cold temps, the battery weakens and again turns off the TPMS. Other things may start to fail as well. My $.02
Check your battery.
Check your battery.
