It's the pump that checks for fuel vapor leaks in the emission control system. This pump is giving me the increased emissions fault code and check engine warning light.

The DMTL is part of the activated carbon canister assembly, and is located behind the right rear wheel well liner.

You have to remove the right rear wheel and remove the right rear wheel liner which will expose the activated canister assembly. Remove a couple of line connections and an electrical connector. Then remove a couple of fasteners to remove the activated carbon canister.

Three fasteners hold the DMTL in the activated carbon canister. Once those are removed the DMTL unit will slide out of the activated carbon cannister. Replace with the new one and reverse all removal steps for installation.

Thanks BimmerFan52.
I did change the pump with new unit that i got from BMW and erased the 1434 code. I have noticed the increased fuel consumption(15.1 L /100KM). is this have anything to do with the pump????

I wouldn't think that simply changing out the DMTL would affect fuel efficiency unless one or more of the lines that connect to the activated carbon canister were left loose.
