My Ride: 05 jet black 545i ya...

So yesterday while at BMW of Austin, the porter noticed a nail in my tire. I thought to myself great, really coulda done without this right meow. SO i take the ride over to discount tire and have to order a new tire becuase the nail was on the corner of the sidewall and tread. I go back today (after driving around on my ugly spare) and wait there while they mount and balance the new tire on the rim. I stood outside the bay and watched him do everything and noticed I didnt see him place a new TPMS sensor in. So i thought, what the hell, ill bring it up in convo to see if maybe it would trigger something in his brain in case he had forgotten. He proceeded to tell me that since my car was an 05 545i it "probably" ran off of the ABS system instead of individual sensors like "the new ones". Is this guy full of it or correct? If they are inidividual sensors, would my FTM system recognize that and say something in I-Drive or just go by the other 3 sensors and not tell me. Sorry for the long post guys..

in short..your guy is correct...you have an FTM system...newer models (2007+) I believe have TPMS, which have actual sensors in each individual title...a quick search can get you MANY thread on this subject...
