At first I thought that one of my wheels was out of balance but my SA informed me that since the problem only occured while braking, one or more of my rotors was warped. Sure enough both fronts were and I had them replaced. The question is why and the answer is a bit disturbing to me. As my sig says, I have Axxis dustless pads which I had installed when the car was a day old. Since they are a bit firmer then normal BMW pads I am wondering if the rotors warped due to the pads. I sure hope not but if anyone else has had a similar experience it would be interesting to discuss.

I have been told that the axxis pads can cause the rotors to warp....sorry to hear Jeff...will BMW still cover the rotor replacement?

Hey Gene, any better luck with EBC or others? I was thinking of Axxis, until I read this thread.

ebc's haven't heard anything bad...I know acuteperformace is also selling hawk pads (haven't heard anything bad about those either)

***haven't seen/read any instances of axxis pads warping rotors...only heard of it's possibility...this is the first actual case of this I have read about here....

On the good side you seem to be unique on the bad, well, warped rotors suck. Sorry to hear about it man. So were they covered under warranty?

Yes, they were but I didn't mention that they weren't factory pads

you just keep that to yourself now okay ...lol..

as long as they cover them.. is this possible cause the car and rotors were basically brand new.. not even broken in =so to speak=?

i agree that this would be a good discussion and can deter alot of people from purchasing these all fabulous brake pads if this is the outcome.. there is a first time for everything.. sorry this happened to you though jeff... and im glad there fixing em
