Planning to purchase the 19 BREYTON wheels with regular tire(not run flat).

Since I have the TPM function in my iDrive, will I get the tire warning message all the time if I did not install the new TPM sensors on the new wheels? The wheel/tire will come from Tirerack mount and balanced. If new TPM sensor is required, do I need to have the tire unmount, install the sensors, and remount/re-balance the tires?

Most of the members here have 19 or 20 wheels and please let me know how you guys took care of this issue.

Nope. 2005 had FTM as I recall, which uses the rate of spin in the wheels, relative to each other. No sensors needed, just reset the FTM once new wheels installed.

The FTM is 04/05 so replace and reset.

Check your valve stem(should be metal instead of rubber) and through your I drive and see if you have TPM section.
If you do then yes you have it but i doubt it because I believe they start putting them on 06 models.

but you definitly need TPM sensor on aftermarket rims if you have them as stock.
I took mine off because i thought that I wouldnt need them and warning message was kept blinking every 5 minutes.

I've got basically the same questions as the OP. However i have an '08, so i'm pretty certain i have TPM sensors.

So when getting new wheels, do the TPM sensors need to be mounted onto the wheel before the tire is mounted? I was planning on buying a wheel/tire package, but they don't offer TPM sensors, so if that's the case i'd probably have to ask to have them sent unmounted so that i can have a shop install the sensors before putting the tire on. Also, once that happens, is there anything special that needs to be done like resetting the system or anything?

What if i were to buy another set of TPM sensors (rather than using my original ones to avoid having to unmount the original tires) what is necessary for the car to mate up w/ the sensors?

Sorry i'm a newb to such new technologies

With an '08, yes, you'll need to transfer the sensors or buy news ones. They're not too expensive though I can't recall the price...

So they'll need to be mounted before the tire is mounted, correct?
