Technically the story is about a BMW, and the Prius is not exactly the competition.

My Ride: 2008 550I M Sport, Premium pkg, Logic 7, Sport Automatic Trans, Paddle Shifters, Nav, Comfort Access, Rear Shades, Satellite, PDC

The Prius is not aerodynamic and an all around poor quality vehicle. I've ridden in and driven one with extreme displeasure, besides having trouble fitting in it as I am tall. On the other hand, a friend of mine purchased a Smart Car and it is much better quality along with being cheaper and much safer.

It is not surprising that a BMW would beat a bottom-line low-quality car from a low-end car company.

This is pointless. Prius is not built to be a race/fast car, so if you floored it and drove it hard like that, it's gonna burn gas. Just like any other cars.
