Question: If I ever have to have my car towed, can I replace the little cap in the bumper that covers the threaded hole without any problems? Every time I see a bimmer with this cap missing, it makes me crazy! So I ask, can these things be replaced after removal or not? or are people just too lazy to put them back after they take em' out?
They they just pop right back in. My sister has a 2004 M3 and had 4 flat tires in 3 months, towed everytime, just pops right back in. When i had my body shop paint my spoiler they took that piece to match it and put it right back in when they were done with it!
Towing must be done properly and most tow truck guys don't care. They always say: " I been doin' this for 40 years".
So I reprinted the towing section in the owners manual - it's only a few pages, and put it in the trunk first aid/tool kit.
Find the appropriate manual on the web and simply print that section. That way you have it handy and you dont need an entire manual in a time of stress.

id take it out myself if i were you, i had a towing company come from bmw, and the asshole popped it out with a screwdriver and left a gash on the bumper and the little thingy.. when in reality all he had to do was push it on the arrow.. those tow drivers dont give a rats ass when it comes to your car..
