Hello

Im new to this forum so firstly may I introduce myself im Sam and live in Yorkshire.

I have just had a car change to a 59 reg 520d sport business edition. As my job requires me to drive in France Germany & the Benelux countries, Can anyone advise me if the headlights ( not Xenon )can be adjusted for using on the continent. I went to a Halfords to get some headlight masks, But the mechanic thought that it could be achieved without the mask by adjusting the bulbs. Is this possible?

don`t know about your car as it is an LCI (post 2007 model) but on mine the headlight throw can only be adjusted if you have xenon headlights, if this is the case for LCI
Cars then it`s the old light makss im afraid.

As im in Cologne this week I called into a BMW dealership, A helpfull mechanic thought it could be done but they only see LHD cars.

Ive read the hand book but cannot find any reference to it

No worries I will ask a BMW dealership when I get back to Blighty

I found it page 114 of my handbook (not necessarily same as yours) under heading 'Rule of the road'. For halogen headlights it says BMW Service is able to supply masking films and to note instructions enclosed with films when applying.

 

Found it!. Looks like masks, Which is a pain as Im abroad a couple of times a month.
