The 335d and 335i provide perhaps the easiest comparison as you can't get an E60 535i in the UK. Either way, it's going to be much the same story - had the 535d raced the 535i, I'd put money on the 3.0 TT I6 gas engine to "win" this particular battle as again it's much quicker from the start.

I think you'd be surprised to find that BMW car magazine did a head to head 335i vs 335d, 335i won in all but every test although when completing laps of a race track 335d came out the winner due to superior torque out of the corners! Overall conclusion petrol quick but never under estimate the BMW twin Turbo oil burner!!

I hope we get the the diesel 5 over here. I drive them as rentals when I travel across the pond and love them. Very civilized. Great mileage. Indestructible. And a blast to drive.

, that was the old steel engine, the LCI has an aluminium or in your world aluminum (which is just wrong i might add ) still a great quote though...
