Hello
First of all apologies for my bad English.
I am based in Paris, France and I just got a 530d built in January 2005 running software v16.x (what the dealer told me) and SatNav (professional display).
The only issues I have (I feel lucky) is about the TMC which is very useful here to receive real-time information about traffic, road works ... for all highways in France or in big cities like Paris.
I have two issues :
1) In the main menu, my traffic information settings is set to AUTO mode that means I should automatically receive traffic info broadcasting from the best quality TMC radio station. Sometime I loose the TMC connection ("TMC" disappears from the bottom line of the i-drive screen) and I can't recover until I manually switch for few seconds to the right radio station in the entertainment menu.
2) Most of the traffic information I receive is tagged with GPS coordinates which allow to display the traffic sign (e.g. traffic jam, accident, works ..) on the Nav map and/or to choose an alternative road. But some traffic information don't have this tag. I suspect it's more a problem with the radio stations sending the data but not sure.
Hope it's clear ! Does anyone have an idea ?
Thanks.

I often need to tune into the TMC radio statio for it to be picked up correctly. "auto" doesn't seem to be automatic.

Auto is (still) automatic, but for some reason since v13.x, the sensitivity of the TMC receiver has been screwed, so you will get long periods where the system has no reception. This can lead to long periods of driving with no TMC.
As has already been said, the best workaround is to briefly (about 1 minute), tune to a radio station that you know carries TMC in your country

Hi all,
To my opinion it is a software problem in the E60 itself! I live in Belgium and we only have 1 radio station broadcasting TMC. ("radio 1" of the national public broadcaster "VRT") When I start the car having my radio tuned on a non-VRT radio station the car sometimes just doesn't pick up TMC. If that happens a very short switch -just some seconds- to any other radio station from VRT (Radio 1 , Donna, St Bru, ...) is enough to activate the TMC in my car. But if I start the car having the radio tuned to one of the VRT-stations, TMC always starts working right away.
Very annoying as I'm not a VRT-radio fan...
