Are these formulas specific to a paricular brand of paint (e.g. Glassurit, PPG, Dupont, etc.)?.........or are they internal BMW formulas for BMW paint?

Thanks

Hi rodybmw

They are specific to the main german supplier of paint technology to the panel shops

Most German car companies use one specific brand for there factory paint, and another for there panel shops ( ie there are 2 main technology manufactuers in germany for auto paint)

These are from Spies Hecker GmbH BMW's supplier of panel shop paint technology

So if I wanted to buy some original BMW paint for my Aero kit I would be looking for a place that sells Spies Hecker?? The reason I ask is that when I had my trunk lid spoiler painted the body shop tried Glasurit first and it did not match well with the paint on my car. Then they tried Dupont and even had it computer scaned and matched, but still it was off. Then they tried PPG and that was the closest one, but it was still off. The painter had to mix in some other paint to get it closer to the car's Titanium Gray II. Now that I have ordered the M Aero Kit I want to get a better color match, so I found the BMW part number for 1000mL cans of the original BMW paint. My parts advisor tried to order the paint but BMW NA said that they do not import BMW paint and that the paint shop has to provide the color I want using one of the other brands that I mentioned above. So if I wanted to buy the Spies Hecker paint (assuming it is available in the US) would that be the name that I should look for or does Spies Hecker have another product name for the paints?

Thanks in Advance,

so let me see if I have this right. I posted on another thread that I was worried about buying Titanium Grey because of the greenish hues... the light I was looking in masked it.. but based on this thread, there is NO green hues for a 2005 545i?. Is this correct?

Rody,

Do you have the Sikkens paint available at US? I used it here with some BMW's and didn't have any problem to match the color 100%!
