Just curious to see the folks out there who have swapped to the fatter tires, is the difference significant?

Huge difference IMO, although my comparison may also be a bit slanted due to the fact that my 225 set up is a winter tire. I ran Pirreli Pzero Snows this winter 225/50/17(their new ones, really great tire, no complaints) - compared to my summer set up of the 18's staggered, no comparison. The car's handling is much more decisive with the 18's (obviously a stiffer side wall) and also you can really feel the extra foot path when cornering - my 2 cents

Having driven a courtesy E60 that was running on 18" MV2's wrapped in 245mm all around, when mine was in the workshop, the difference compared to my set up of 19" 172 on 245mm front and 275mm rear was immediately noticeable. The courtesy certainly felt less planted. However, the ride quality was slightly better as it was running 18" vs 19". And the staggered set up looks much sweeter in my opinion.

Thanks for the inputs!
The one that i see on tire rack are 18" with the 245front/275rear
Probably a nice balance, was thinking of going 19" but might be too rough a ride.

It's a judgment call over looks vs. comfort I think.

I think that the 19" 172's look better than the 18" MV2's and really compliment the car's angular lines. However, the 18" MV2's are much less harsh on the ride.

I ran the 19" 225 alloys on my E92 with run flats and the ride could get very compromised at times especially on the lovely UK roads where pot holes now seem to be the trend of the season. Obviously the tyre wall size and the hard compound added to this.

I have 255/35/19 on 8.5? Breyton?s front and rear. I?ve noticed significant clearance issues between different tire brands of the same size.

Hancook V12 rubbed on turning bumps
Continental DWS rubbed on any bump
Goodyear F1 Asymetric only rub a little on hard bumps
