The idea of plus sizing is to keep the same diameter of tire, or very close to it so it doesnt affect other areas of the factory specs like gear ratios, etc.

Maybe some others would chime in.
I want it that way because it looks better when tire is all the way up to the fenders because my car is not lowered and more tire less noise....

If you go with such a tall tire in rear do the same in the front, The 5% everyone is talking about is the max recommended tire diameter difference between the front and the rear. Go beyond that and the computer will set off alarms more often/or even constantly. Note also the more obscure the tire size the more cost for them too. Tire tread design has a lot to do with noise and wear as well.

I hate to thread jack, but I have a similar question and you guys seem to know a lot.

I'm thinking of running some 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 rims, but they are on 235/35 and 255/35 tires.

Any negative results for using these until I get new tires?

Yea Im at 19/245/40 front and 19/275/35 rear right now and im going for 19/245/35 front and 19/285/35 rear and from what everyone has said it seems like it will work fine
on a side note my 19/245/40 front rubs a little when i turn the wheels all the way

Ok i hate to bring this up again but i went to buy tires at local fire stone and i told them i wanted to get 285/40/19 rear.... they pulled up my car recommendations and they freaked out......I spoke with store manager and he told me that he refuses to install those on my car because they will cause suspension and or transmission and other mechanical damage and if that happens dialer will sue them for installing wrong tires and causing damage......I personally wanna woop this dudes ass for wasting my time explaining me how the tires r gonna ruin my transmission, but anyhow what u guys think about this? Im considering going with 285/35/19 but i would really like the 40s

Order your tires from Tirerack and pick one of their local installers to have them receive, mount, balance, and install the tires that you want.

i'm running 19x8.5 235/35/19 and 19x9.5 265/30/19. People say its not the right size for the wheel but I'm not having any problems?

If you want to decrease the rear tire wear, you'll only need a one time alignment to reduce the negative camber on the rear wheels. Unlike the front suspension on the e60, there's more play in the rear camber. A buddy of mine with an e90 sport package wore out his rear set of Continental DWS in less than 15,000 miles.
