I am thinking about buying some different wheels for my 07 550i, but I dont want to transfer my TPM sensors from my oem wheels to the new wheels.

Will I encounter any problems with this? Will I see constant errors on my idrive or on my dash if I do not put the sensors in the aftermarket rims?

I had the sensors put in my DPE's and I am extremely happy I did. If I had not I most likely would have destroyed one of the rims already, due to a blowout. If you do not have the sensors moved there is a way to bypass the tpm error message or block the sensor or something. The guy over at DPE was explaining it to me but in my opinion I would have them moved over.

I'd just get another set of sensors installed in the new wheels. That way, you won't see any errors and you'll have the benefit of knowing the tire pressures...

I was quoted $189 per sensor from the BMW dealer. Would the local Goodyear have the sensors on hand?

Thats way too high. That should be the price for all four sensors.

I just bought 4 new ones for my new 166 wheels a month ago. Check with Garry Romaini at 401-847-9600 ext. 2448.
BMW of Newport. I want to say that mine were about 35 bucks a piece. The sensors are BMW specific parts.

Yeah, according to the following thread, that should be closer to the price for four...

yes for a 07 model you need to have the sensors, otherwise you will get the ! with a circle everytime you start up your car, and the indicator will remain on all the time
speaking from first hand experience...
i want to put them on but my wheels stem valve hole is a little too small for the bmw sensor and metal valve. i heard you can wrap around the wheel but haven't tried it yet

I drilled a hole on the inside of my rims and installed the my stock TPM's there. Good luck!

I would go with the 4 sensors for $170 total (with shipping).
I have a set for my OEMs and my #166s.
Very easy to install and remove.
I believe that TireRack has them in stock as well.
Best,
