I got the tire insurance for five years, cost was 200+ USD. So far insurance has replaced two rear tires due to several punctures on them where the tires were beyond the point of being repairable. It also covers/fixes w/o deductible any tire flats and damage to wheel done in normal driving conditions (No curb damage repair covered)

I wasn't sure about buying it at the beginning, but I'm glad I did.

+1. If offered tire insurance, buy it. You will be thankful you did afterwards.

coolguy, the $200 for 5yrs warranty was actually my post.
I just pulled the policy out of my BMW folder. I paid $289 for it, it is called Vehicle Tire and Wheel Guarantee, offered by Road InTire and it was sold to me by the dealership. Now I see that it was expensive, but at the time, the sales agent was very convincing, arguing that he had recently replaced a wheel in his car that cost him three times the cost of the policy.

In my case, it paid for itself quickly, I replaced my wheels and tires, a few months after I bought the car, with a used set of BBS wheels and Continental tires that I bought on eBay, after that, the insurance policy replaced two of my tires due to an unrepairable flat tire situation. Just replacing those two tires make up for the insurance policy fee.

The dealership also sold me a NSD Windshield Protection Plan valid for three years, cost $219. I was one of the unfortunate owners that had the stress cracked windshield, of course dealership said that it was not stress related and filed the replacement under this policy.

Usually the advise is not to purchase any of these additional services offered by the dealership but in my case If I would go back to the time of purchase, I would get the wheel and tire but not the windshield.
