tips to connect an Audiovox RDS usb module
I'd like to put an RDS module to my E60, one of those who isolates the antenna to receive a digital signal without interferences.
the one in question is this:
Audiovox - Driven by DICE Electronics - Universal RDS USB
maybe common there, too.
the connection is straigh simple, and the usb cable I think can be easily routed to the glovebox (any suggestion to reach it?)
but I have a little doubt on how to find a fixed +12 and a an ignition +12 (schematic below)
can I find them on the radio connector (M-ask, no navigation) or I have to find it somewhere else? Maybe under the glovebox is easier to find them? Suggestions?
Anothe question is: to made the wires connection I assume I have to disconnect the battery. With E60 is a "dangerous" thing to do?
I've read horror stories of non-working control units, needs for reprogramming... With my older (E46, Z3) cars I just disconnected the - pole on the battery and nothing more.
E60 needs more specific precautions?

That looks like exactly what I'm looking for!!! Install can't be very difficult. Three wires and an antenna plug.
Does anyone know how accessible the antenna plug is since there isn't really a "deck" to plug into.
Cheers

Hi, antenna I think is not so difficult tor each.
I found on that forum the wiring of the radio connector:
https://5series.net/forums/attachmen...dio_casing-pdf
and here's a tutorial to remove the dash trim:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=519654
but I can't understand if the power supply is fixed or switched on ignition: think is fixed?
and where to find ignition +12v? to the ashtray?
