There are little plastic screws need to be loosened with a flat head screw driver and then pry them a little so they do not break. The Carpeted piece then comes right off. You will see the plugs unobstructed attached to the unibody. Good Luck!
Also, the 3 series premium package comes standard with the sirius pre-wire. Maybe this is what BMW is doing with the 5 series now.
Thanks everyone for there warm welcome.

one of those is for connecting the phone system to the shark fin antenna. There should be two magenta connectors that fit together after one has its plastic cap removed -- those need to be plugged together IF you have the BMW phone installed (service engineers apparently do not all know that and forget -- there's more on this subject in the DIY forum on phone installation)

PeterF ...One of the connectors is a fiber optic connector and will not attach to the other antenna connector. Therefore these group of wires are not for the cell phone. Also, the DIY post contains no PDF's on any wiring needed in the trunk for the cell phone. I have the cell phone, it works fine and it is not attached through the trunk except through the Telematics Control Unit.
Thanks for the thought though.

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...connector&st=30 , it clearly shows the cables I was talking about. The connection DID have to be made in my car when the phone was installed (tech forgot it), and before this was connected, my phone reception was absolutely lousy.
