Hey

I'm new here and trying to figure out if a E60 will be a good car for us.

We have 2 kids and another on the way and just want to now if any of you are using a E60 with three kids and if it works allright.

Three kids should be good ... I fit three adults in the back and that was kosher.

I am more curious about the carseats fitting well, they are much bigger than the kids are

Assuming they are young - like under age 10, you'd be OK, maybe. After that, IMHO, it will be a little tight back there with them and all their "stuff". How about something with a thrid row seat? Hell I have two kids and they fight and pinch and mess with each other as is, seperated by the rear center armrest - adding a third and having to put that 'barrier' up wouldn't be a good idea. Not to mention where will they put their happy meal soda cups, water bottles, ipods, adapters, etc if you can't use the rear center arm rest?

I wouldn't do it. sure you could, but why add that stress. go for a bigger vehicle, if you have the money, and get the third row rear seating area, or, dare I say it, a nice pimpled out mini van.

Ok, I feel better. My oldest is 4 and they don't fight in the car yet. Something with a 3rd row typically means minivan and I'd rather shoot myself than drive a minivan (minivan = automotive suicide). I'll stick to my E60, especially since NO ONE eats or drinks in my car, ever. I am not worried about losing the cupholders.

I've had two child's carseats in the back of mine and there wasn't a whole heap o' room left for another adult back there. Mostly because the carseats don't fit all the way to the side, they're about 4" in from the door. Three adults is do-able, but two child's carseats and one adult is somewhat less comfortable. Maybe Kate Moss or a third under-10 child would fit in there. I have doubts about 3 fitting at all, but haven't tried.

You know what, I was always in the "mini vans are for doofus's" category until my kids got older and the techology and overall quality of them got better. I still don't own one and never will now - don't need it anymore really, BUT, I'd actually consider one if my kids were younger today. I mean I'd still have the 550i for fun, but the minivans of today are like driving technology centers with built in DVD players and screens, hook ups for video games, space, seperate control for climate and entertainment, more space, etc etc.

Why not, if you can afford it, get both. Or better yet one of the nice big third row seat sporting SUV's?

I would actually consider an X5 with the 3rd row seats, you can get them with rear seat entertainment. However, no how, no way will i ever buy/own/drive a minivan. Ever seen the forlorn look on minivan driver's faces when you pull up next em at the light? They look longingly at our cars and reminisce about when they too had testes once, so sad.
