thread 1001: iPod solution without programming | hardwire solution?
Sorry for making this thread... I know there are quite few on this forum, but all relates to taking it to BMW and having to add AUX option to my iDrive
I dont have a CD changer... I have Nav-pro
I dont want to take my to get reprogrmmed...
beside FM transmitter, what other option do I really have... hardwire solution of any sort?

I hate to be a dick, but as you said, there are numerous threads on this. Read up, they're there for a reason.
But to make it short for you, you can go the Denison route.
Not sure if I should infer, but I assume you don't want to take it to dealer for cost reason. If that's the case, Denison is probably not your route either.

plus he said it didn't have a CDC, so the Dension wouldn't work too.

It's not really expensive at all to get an Aux input put in, I paid $60 for the input and install and coding can run you around $100 at an indy shop. You can't control it with the iDrive, but I didn't care
No solution will be that cost effective, period.

There is also a thread to have a installed aux working when the mute is on. I think there was a post on it this month. Bruce made some comments on it and offered solutions to the existing issues

AUX on when mute is on is a little
ghetto? Sorry, just my opinion. I'd go with the option pjinca suggested
@Achtung: I do think it was a very innovative and imaginative way to do it, btw - I'm not knocking you. I just like things to be as "clean", or OE as possible in my car - I'm not rich enough to mess it up.
Coincidentally, who knows if I need all of these parts to successfully retrofit an iPod kit? I don't have CDC/CDC prep, but I've got a guy who can program.

Do I need all these? If yes, I guess I might as well get the Dension...

But as a factory option they are already there assembling the car vs. a dealer opening it up and doing it after the fact.
I got quote for $800 for a Ipod intergeneration unit at Buena Park.
