Luxury car owners likely drove the dealerships crazy with wanting whisper quiet brakes and a good "bite" so they put gummi eraser pads on, But those last 10-20k miles, are messy and so then offered free maintenance and car washes to the original owners.

I put Hawks on my E39 528i - loved them. The dust vs. bite combination was excellent. I couldn't find an application for our allroad so went with Akebono ceramics. Even less dust, but the initial bite isn't as aggressive (which the wife likes a lot).

Braided SS lines all around on both of those cars. As soon as I can justify swapping out the pads on the 550i, the stock pads will be replaced, most likely with Hawk.

Hawk HPS FTW, that's why I push them so hard. I truly believe in the product, put them on all my cars and family cars.

no one answered my question earlier, but can you get the dealer to swap out to ceramics while under warranty. anything ceramic will not dust as much...

BMW does not make a ceramic brake pad. BMW will not warranty a non BMW part nor will they put a non BMW parts in place of a BMW part.
