Your whole front suspension, wheels could be bent, alignment for sure, check your tires for any bubbles.
No bubbles but the left front wheel tire (RFT) is flat or blasted dunno

Wow sorry to hear.

This reminds me about my car's drive control system malfunction a few weeks ago. My steering wheel got stuck briefly on turn, and it scared the **** out of me. My dealer grounded the car until they found the replacement part.

Is your iDrive showing any error relating to the driving system so that you can prove it to your dealer?

sory to hear such a thing happen to a nice car....
take the matter straight up to management in your dealler. i really dont think that the dealer will take responsibility that easily...i think the best way is to threaten them with BMW Germany then a lawyer, if they are still unwilling to make a fix it, then i suggest you convince them to pay or give you the money that you will be paying to the insurance company, which they may accept (hopefully a small decrease in the discount, and the accedents fee)...
if you dont have a police report you will need it believe me in all cases..i suggest you get one asap...

First up - no-one is going to believe you that the steering jammed.

As the posts show the guy whose accelerator 'jammed' in the UK has been given short shrift by the police and at the time I was pretty sure that would be the case.

Obviously the safety implications of this sort of fault are enormous and if there was a problem BMW would need to pretty much recall ALL e60's affected - which would be BIG news.

If you are absolutely certain that the steering jammed (and that it wasn't cause you dislodged the key, so something physically trapped the wheel, or that you crashed by mistake) then you probably need to keep the car with you (not the dealer) until it is independantly checked. One thing that sounds likely to me is that the steering power assistance may have failed (which would have made it heavy - but not stopped it turning) or the wheels locked meaning that the steering input didn't reach the road). i have personally hit some diesel on the road which caused me to lose ALL grip and it momentarily 'felt' like the steering wheel wasn't moving the wheels, cause they had no adhesion.

If the dealer has it - problems (If they physically exist) could be covered up.

It was heavy so what I think is that it became so heavy that I was unable to move it evasively and I wasn't prepared for that heaviness btw that's dealers fault again anyhow

There is a world of difference between 'heavy' and stuck.

The wheel could become 'heavy' if:

1. The power steering failed
2. The engine stalled thus de-activating the power steering

For the wheel to become 'stuck' as you say it did in your statement it would have to be immovable - i.e not possible to turn with any reasonable degree of force.

The only way I can see that this would happen is a total steering failure, in which case it would still be stuck or becuase of the activation of the steering lock (either cause the key was removed / dislodged or the steering lock system failed)

BMW are going to pick your statement apart and you will need to be ultra clear - was it 'heavy' or 'stuck'
