Auto mod is the worst. You need to drive the car like it is a manual....that's because it is a manual.
To be smoother, shift gears yourself, and ease on/off of the throttle. Don't drive it like an automatic unless you want whiplash.

Retired - 2004 545 SMG, Black Sapphire Metallic, Auburn Dakota Leather, Cold Weather and Sports Packages, Power Rear and Manual Side Sun Shades
You should also check what software version you have, and update it if necessary. Newer software versions helped address some of the harsh shift issues.
