Hey Rudy why does my I drive have two guys? The main one is pretty accentless but the guy who says the FM radio frequencies has a Russian accent. Pretty weird.

Is your nav voice a guy? According to the article posted in the other thread, they wanted to have different voices for the nav and the rest of the car.

I remember once my E39 was getting new software and one of the choices the service tech gave me was whether or not I wanted a male or female voice. Maybe the E60 has a choice as well?

My dealer told me that the new software for E60 with navigation was not out yet. I think i just got tricked by them. Ugh! They're Stevens Creek BMW though. Anybody upgraded their software there ?

Don't forget the German that reads your phonebook entries to you. For my Dealer Motor Werks he says "Motor Verks". My baby gets homesick when she hears that.

I called there yesterday to inquire about BT, and they informed me that they were on 13.2, receiving 13.3 in the near future (< two weeks) - he sounded pretty knowledgeable. I still haven't found the dealer most software savyy in the south Bay Area yet, and THIS IS SILICON VALLEY!

Who's the "I drive guy" -- are you counting yourself? Seriously though, I think I only have two human voices in my car -- one for nav (female) and one for voice control (male).

I think the phonebook voice is not a human. It's a computer synthesized text-to-speech voice generated entirely by the spelling of the names in the phonebook. I haven't detected a German accent on mine yet -- I'll keep listening...

Must be lying. How can the largest BMW dealer in San Jose be three weeks behind the rest of the country. Their service manager probably has a big box from BMWNA sitting un-opened on his desk. They don't read everything and so cannot fix anything.

It's really funny... I only have one voice for everything! No difference... Nav, Car, Phone... all the same voice!

Just got my car back from the dealership and am elated to report that the new version of s/w for my navigation now says, "Take the next ROAD on the right"...

Happily suprised that this fix was implemented.? Do not know what version of s/w I have though because the invoice doesn't say.

Anybody else notice this change?

My dealer said it is a problem, but not covered by warranty. They want to charge $125. I think it is a warranty issue.

Thoughts?
