Wow! Sounds interesting. Could u show me what type of LED's do you have in your brake lights? I want to see the shape, number and type of LED's, etc...

Just my $.02 there is a recall on the E46 for this exact issue. Not sure if there's one on the E60. I still need to take my E46 in to get it fixed.
