On the bottom portion of the Tach there is a mpg gauge: What is this for?
The owners manual does not say much about it, or anything specific about it's function, and what is a good reading.

That's a fuel flow/economy gauge - it shows the fuel economy that you are achieving at any point in time as you drive.
I'm not sure that there is any guidance or agreement on what a "good" reading is, but the further to the left you manage to keep it, the more mpg you're gonna get out of a tank of gas. I try to keep mine as far to the left as possible when in a cruise but, in start-stop driving, it's more about how much acceleration I want out of the car.
