I just dont want the steering wheel and the side panels of the seats being automatically adjusted everytime I start orswitch off the car (its only me driving the car, so I'm not using the memory function).
How do I adjust this? I did not find anything in the manual, or maybe I am not looking hard enough?

As a related question, when my steering wheel column moves up (when switching off the engine, but also when it is being moved up via the button), the electric motor makes a strange vibrating noise... actually its probably not the motor, as it does not make the same noise when it moves down!
Question is - is such noise common or is this another ticking time bomb, when something is going to fail soon and I will have to replace the whole column and reprogram the car or something..

Thanks for any advice

My steering column does the same thing! It it like a squeaking/vibrating noise? I think it just needs grease...

yes, its a squeaking/vibrating noise... I'll try with grease, hopefully won't have to spend hours dismantling it first..

re: switching it off via idrive - I went through the manual yesterday and found a description of this "eqasy entry/exit system" as the germans call it, but there is no mention about how to switch it on or off!

there is however an automatic adjustment of the driver seat and steering wheel to the position last saved in the ignition key. this function can be switched on or off in the idrive - I will try that, although I doubt it will work.

Can you give me a more specific idea on where to look in the idrive?
