yep - no programing necessary. Just press in on open button for about 20 seconds and the sunroof will slide open/closed on its own and will relearn the stop limits.

the initialization is the programming your dealer is referring to.... You have all the information. Go for it. Easy DIY.

Yes. DIY it. No coding and just re-initialize. This will reset how far the sunroof will fully close and reset the anti-trap mechanism. Once you're done with the DIY, look for another dealer or independent.

07 Surrounding seal L=2883 1 12/2008 54107245551 $30.68. (new)

Because the new product is a bit thicker it might cause the window system to activate the Anti Trap function and not close the window. When I purchased the new seal, the enclosed document stated that it is essential to comply with PUMA Measure AG20315810-01.( copy and paste)

I went to the local BMW dealer and the SA stated that I would have to have the vehicles programming updated. I am sure that that is not true. Once the new seal is installed, the following has to be done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9AAks_lBlc

The above intializes the roof program so that it recognises the different current draws due to the thicker seal. If your vehicle is a 2009 or newer it does not requiere the programming.

I hope I am correct regarding the above. I will install the seal and do the programming. I will come back to this topic and let it be known what the result is.

Is that all there is?? 5 minutes to remove old seal, 30 minutes to remove glue with a heat gum, twenty minutes to install new seal and about 5 minutes to re-initialize the roof following https://5series.net/forums/gallery/i...g-the-sunroof/

Thanks to all for the encouragement and direction. Now I am a pro.
