Well I guess the main stealers will have fun with this one if nobody can make an educated guess, they will have an awesome time trying this and that on this car which has no warranty left, im starting to wonder if I should simply sell it quick just in case, considering a simple DVD replacement drive costs over a grand !!!

Sorry for the belated reply to this one ... I've not been real active of late.
My 530d (spec in my sig) does exactly the same as yours at around 50km/h (30mph) (almost bang on the same speed you're having your problem). I have also noticed that the problem is more noticeable if I have the cruise control set to between 50 and 60km/h (30-40 or so mph) (which I do every so often on some of our camera-infested roads here).
It's been to the stealers a couple of times in the last 8 months in for this to be looked at (among other things) and they have gone from "it's normal" to "we're updating your software" to "duhhh ... dunno.. it must be normal". The last software update was in late October last year, but I'm about to go back in sometime in the next fortnight as I want a couple of other things looked at, and I want them to look at this again. The software update changed nothing. Also the car received a full service and its APK (MOT) at the same time, and none of the latter test showed up anything that may explain the behaviour of the thing.
My theory, fwiw, is that it's one of the few times that the engines runs at a constant 1,200 or so rpm, and this is inside the rev range that the particle filter regenerates, and that at these lower speeds it is somehow more noticeable. The sensation is exactly the same I get as when the particle filter regenerates when I'm on a highway run with the differences being that, at the higher speeds, the pulsing feeling is less noticeable and the tacho doesn't twitch.

Thanks MacSid........
You have highlighted my fears perfectly......many trips to the stealer trying to trace a problem they can never trace on a car with no warrantly left.........big bills
Your explanations indeed also makes some sense.
As long as the situation does not deteriorate I guess I have to live with it.........im beggining to hate some of the quirks with this new BMW
My simple older E46 320d was so much easier to understand.
