I have a 2007 CPO 550. I have noticed that surface on portions of the face of the steering wheel has a very thin rubber veneer / treatment. This is starting to peel and flake off. On a car that is only 2 years old this seems like a "defective" finish to me. Have others experienced this? Was the dealer willing to fix it? Is this covered on the bumper to bumper warrantee?

Thanks....

I got my steering wheel replaced due to a burning hotspot with the heating system so I'd think they could do something about it for a defective finish.

Yeah, should be covered. I had cracked wooden trim in my previous BMW and they replaced that no problem.

BTW: Where did you get those silver fog bezels. I want some.

That looks like an external EZPass tag!

The license plate has been blurred. The rectangular piece at the top is an "EZ PASS" that gets me through tolls up and down the United Sates East Coast (Dulles Toll Road, I-95, etc.) This is instead of the one that is typically put inside the car on the windshield.

I got them from a company in Korea. They are occasionally listed on ebay. The company is here: http://autov.co.kr/product/interior/...ry/108805.html

Interested in how your experience ends - I tried to get my dealer to replace the steering wheel under warranty, but they told me it is not covered, because its worn out. In the meantime, I have both - the peeling of the veneer and the burn spots...
