My Ride: UK 2005 530d E61
I have a trip to the local BMW dealer scheduled for tomorrow for my first oil service. It is likely that they will update the car from CIP17.x to 20 since I have three problems that are (according to BMW's info) solved by s/w upgrade (iDrive restart, CD player continues after key-out and BT call active hang after phone drops call).
I'm not sure of my car (E61 530d) build date - it was supplied by the dealer in 04/05 - so could be 01/05-03/05. Looking back though the posts it seems BMW is saying that MP3 only works on cars with a CCC built after 03/05. But there seem to be a number of members that do have MP3 working on cars with CCC prior to that.
Two questions:
1) Do I need to tell my dealer to add MP3 after the CIP20 upgrade - i.e. is this a separate step
2) Has anybody had this work for a CCC equiped car (I have Pro Nav) when the car build date is prior to 03/05 even though BMW says it doesn't?
Thanks.

In the UK many members have siad that they have been able to do this

I think you do have to tell them to add mp3 function though - and I think it is a no charge thing
