Ok I figured it out.. with mine at least.
This morning (on most hot days I open everything to let the air out when I get in).. I was looking around for clips or anything. I noticed on the actual HANDLE of the sunroof it is curved/protruding up facing the sunroof. The sunroof lip also has a nice piece of rubber. I opened the sunroof halfway and was feeling for the handle against the sunroof when I slid it back and forth. I am pretty sure that the handle is supposed to catch on the outer lip of the sunroof and get it to pull back.
I figured I had not much to lose, and I pressed the sunroof shade up in the middle thinking my shade actually has SAGGED over the years. when the sunroof is all the way open, the angle lets it go.. but now when I close or open it, the handle catches the sunroof and opens like it should now. I'm not sure if the shade is actually metal or something like particle board, but for the time being, my sunroof now catches on the handle and pulls it both open and closed. We'll see at the end of the day if it still does it.
Score! (Of course if I just crack it open/tilt it it will not do anything to the shade.) On my old Audi once in a while it would glitch out and open it.. and if it rained , well it would pour into the shade without you knowing it.. grr.. That was a fix on the sunroof switch..

Folks, I have an issue with my Sunroof shade as its not moving. Initially the glass part was not closing and it worked after I rest it. However the shade now doesn't move. I know this question was asked long time ago. Has anyone figured out how to fix it. Please kindly LMK. Thnx
