I have the same problem with my '07 E60. I discovered quickly that the wind deflector was the culprit, so my temporary solution is to insert a thin piece of cardboard (that I store in my visor) whilst in the tilt position. The velcro idea is smarter...I'll post a fix if I figure out a way to 'adjust' the deflector.

Very useful guys . I also have same issue, however; while the sunroof is fully closed. I hear that sound when hitting bumps on the road, or bass of the sound system (subwoofer). It took me some time to figure out its coming from the run roof (when I push it up, the noise disappears).
I need some clarification on Wind Deflector though. I was thinking about the metal peace that is towards the front of the sunroof, and that comes up when the roof is fully open. However, when looking on google images, it shows the plastic piece that a lot of people put on top of room around the sun roof (I dont even have that).
Is my first assumption correct?
Thanks again .

I applied some tape, however; it didnt completely solve the issue... Just had a baby, so not even listening to loud music anymore . Maybe thats why its not bothering me as much now
