@vkhong, thanks for that link. i was about to perform the adjustment but my sunroof magically started to close fine again.
i looked a bit closer and noticed that the area behind and underneath the slipstream (draft) deflector was dry and slightly dirty. i also noticed there was some give in the springs area where the deflector mounts in at. i think this give was maybe causing the problem. so i cleaned the area on top and underneath the deflector and lubed the springs with white lithium grease. seems to be so far so good.

i had the same problem, the issue was the headliner got pushed too far back. I didnt notice this until I went to close the sunroof and it retracted automatically. when the headliner is pushed back you should still see the handle 2-1/2" of it, well I mistakenly pushed it back all the way and could only see a 1/2". after I pried it out the sunroof closed properly.
maybe this was the case for you? not sure a little dirt would cause the sunroof to completely retract?!

naw it wasn't the headliner. the handle was still very visible.
i really do not think it was the dirt either. i just cleaned it off because it was there.
i more so feel it was the deflector needing lube. when the sunroof retracted, i could see it come in contact with the deflector as the deflector wasn't moving out of the way about a mil.
i believe after i lubed it, the deflector was able to pivot out of the way more. like i said, i could see a slight amount of play where the deflector mounts near its springs.

I'm currently experiencing this issue with my sunroof. I'll try cleaning and lubing the deflector and possibly re initializing it. My date was heckling me about it Tuesday, ungrateful youngsters ;p

I had the same thing happen a while ago. Would try to close the sunroof and it would go down and pop back up and open. Didn't know what was going on. I figured though that since I hadn't opened it up in almost half a year, it might've dried the rubber seals and caused them to stick to the sunroof glass, I don't know, but after repeatedly trying to close and open the sunroof it eventually went down. I now open and close it a few times a week and it hasn't gotten stuck since. Just keep trying to open and close it multiple times and maybe that helps? Not sure

I'd been using mine continuously, but my car had the roof repainted last week and the shop may have removed the seals to do so. Turns out I reinitialized it and it works fine.
