A few years ago when most of you were wearing yellow diapers, eating pop rocks, and watching "Power Rangers," I was at an aeronautical conference that had members from all around the world. One night at dinner, after several "yards" one of the several British engineers asked me "How do you Yanks test your windscreens in your fighter aircraft for bird strike capability?" I told him that we fire a dead goose out of an air cannon at the glass, with a velocity of around 350 ft/min. This represents the most serious of all bird strikes on the windscreen that a fighter is likely to encounter. A few months later, I received a letter from the engineer telling me that they destroyed three airframes with the goose cannon, until they figured out that the American engineers did not freeze the goose before launching it.... so I guess it could have been worse.

Whoa. I wonder how many people saw you driving around not knowing a turkey head was sticking out of your bumper on your way to work? If I saw that I would have died laughing (no disrespect to the dead turkey).

Crazy.

BWAHAHAHA! Great stuff.

BTW: How did you know about that Diapers/Pop Rocks/Power Rangers party last week?

That was supposed to be "invitation only."
