My 530i has a stuttering problem. When the car is idle in drive (like at a stop light) the car stutters/shakes alot. When the car is in reverse, the car stutters while backing up. And lastly, when the car is in drive, it stutters/shakes while i step on the gas (it only does it when im accelerating, when its cruising it doesnt shake). Anyone have a clue to whats wrong with the car?

Take a look at the engine when idling to see if it's rocking, could be an engine mount that needs replacement.

That could also be a clogged fuel filter or something like that.

My 535 was balky in reverse and on acceleration, perhaps not the extent of the OP's issue. The problem was a bad oxygen sensor.

The engine does rumble a little when the car is idling but i think its how it normally rumbles. Are any of the problems posted fixable through warrenty? Or am i going to have to reach into my pocketbook? =T I have an 2006 530i with ultimate service warrenty ending Jan 2010.
