My friend here next to me asked me why BMW's are called Bimmers!
and how come they pronounce it Beamers and spell it Bimmers?

Can someone explain?

I've heard that BMW motorcycle buffs are "beemers" and we car crazed nuts are "bimmers"; supposedly we get offended if anyone refer to us as beemers! As fanatics, it is suitable that we get upset and then it doesn't matter that we don't know why we are called what we are called and where it came from.

that's when the bimmer goes wrong! LOL. Beemers are motorcycles while Bimmers are automobiles. I too wanna know why it's called Bimmer. Don't forget about BEE - EM is also used.
