Strong burning smell

My Ride: 525d Automatic Silver grey with beige dakota leather, Blue tooth, extended lights xenon head lights, park distance, 138 wheels,extended aircon, service inclusive
I have had a similar problem. I have noticed that occaisionally the car has a strange noise comming from the rear at slow speed as if the diff was on it way out. I was going to take it to the garage but it appens so randomly that there would be no point

The entrance to my garage at work requires a pretty quick stop and tight turn (well, I guess when you're going to fast it requires a quick stop), so I can also smell my brakes when I get out of the car at work. It just seems to be there when I've been braking aggressively, so I assume that's what it is.
Sometimes while I'm driving, like after an aggressive start, it seems like I smell something, so maybe that's the clutch.
