Hi,

I came out from work this afternoon and I had a note on my window that security had found my trunck open and closed it. There was no sign that it had been forced open. Then I got in my car and the radio was not playing. So I went to the FM menu and found that all of my presets were gone. Is this another case of possession?

I would take it to the dealer and have them check it out. Sounds like a software update is in order.

There's a couple of posts on trunks opening by themselves. One in the rain (not a good thing).

Do you keep your keys in your pocket?

I found my car with my trunk ("boot" for you UK folks) open on a couple of occasions. From what I can figure, I must have created a situation where the trunk release button was pressed while I sat down with the keys in my pocket.

Seems pretty strange looking outside my office to see my trunk open.

Luckilly it only happened to me twice, but I'm pretty sure it was my doing and not an instance of my car being posessed.

I do keep my keys in my pocket but my office is why outside the range of the key. I guess it is possible that I pushed while walking away but I don't think so. That and the missing presets leads me to believe that it wasn't me pushing the button.

Not necessarily. I've had both keys laying on a counter, and the trunk has opened by itself, several times-- and this was before we had the Range Rover. Now, I think we've demonstrated that my car is in fact posessed, but it seems like this is a more common problem than BMW is letting on...

That's what happens when you leave people in your trunk...
