I get the occasional what I can only describe as an electronic sounding "tock" noise out of one of my rear speakers (like clicking your tongue off the roof of your mouth !). May happen once a day. I have Bluetooth fitted, but this sound can appear when there is no phone connected.
Anyone else experienced this ???
Thanks.
ps. Chrismas drink this afternoon. Came in on the train. Missing my E60
Sad eh ?

Without hearing your stereo, I can propose the following 2 possibilities:
1. Your speaker is "bottoming out". A speaker is comprised of a plastic or kevlar cone which is suspended by a rubber or foam ring called the surround. The speaker moves back and forth to cause pressure changes in the air, which our ears perceive as sound. The louder a sound, the more the speaker must move. Some speakers are designed better than others, and are capable of longer excursion (the distance the cone can travel) If you drive a speaker too hard, the cone can reach the max excursion point and the speaker will distort. Often this sounds like a click or pop.
2. If you have Logic 7, it could be processing artifacts. The Logic 7 system uses DSP processors to steer audio towards specific speakers. Sometimes this processing creates distortions which are not part of the original recording. These are called artifacts. I have the Logic 7, and I experience sonic artifacts regularly in both my 545i and 325i. It is just a limitation of the technology.

Don't know if it's the same, but I was getting a similar sound (although I called it "popping" sound) coming from the speakers with switching from Radio to CD.
Got fixed by replacing the CCC.
