Unhappy

My 06 M5 (32,000km) SMG is acting up. When the car is cold (ie: sitting overnight) if I start it and then put it in gear and try to drive away right away, nothing happens, it just revs or pulls away slowly as if you were riding the clutch. If I let the car idle for about 30 seconds or more then select 1st gear the operation in normal. I suspect maybe a problem with the hydralic pump - weak or low on fluid?

I have searched on SMG pump replacement but having found an desciption of the symptoms leading up to a failure. The car has also started feeling a bit jerky on some shifts and sometime on take off the clutch feels a bit "juttery", but these symptoms are pretty mild and I have wondered if it's just my imagination playing tricks on me since I am now constantly aware and listen for it all the time.

Obviously I will have to take it in to the dealer but wondered if anyone had any thoughts/advice to arm myself before I go. Thanks.

Sounds like the pump. I had a similar thing happen several years ago and they replaced the pump and one other part (actuator?) that I can't recall. Fixed the issue completely and I've never had another problem.

Thanks! I will post up the resolution once I get a chance to bring it in.

Update: "Found reservoir for SMG hydralic unit leaking. Replaced washer for plug on reservoir. Top up fluid. Tested OK."

Glad it was a quick fix!
