hi guys,

i've experienced the same problem on my 535d, BMW have issued a service memo regarding this and there are 3 fixes.

1) Replace the lubricant on the steering column for a thicker improved solution.
2) Fit a collar to the steering column preventing the movement of the splines which causes the noise
3) Fit a securing bolt to the column to prevent movement of splines.

As stated before this is a problem on all e60's which BMW is aware of and will fix under warranty!!!!!!!

I have that same promblem but it sounds like something is rubbing rubber, The sound doesen?t seem to start until I have been driving around for a few minutes and it?s getting worse.. Is this the same problem that you guys are talking about the steering fluid....

If its a groan, it might just be your brakes. To test this, put the car in Neutral and let your foot off the brake and turn the wheel. If the groan is gone, it's not the steering but the brakes

can someone post this service bulletin. I have this too kind of moderate-loud clicking sound whne turning the wheel either way to the extreme at a stand still or slow speeds-and the sesrvice manager said there were no bulletins regarding this issue-would be helpful if someone posted one so I could take it with me. thanks
