I am having that same problem as well. However mine is even worse. My sound system will go mute for about 5 minutes and then the intermitten static will come and then it clears up. It has happened to me a couple of times before and always when I start the car. Even when I turn the car off and on right away while this is occuring, it is still mute or has static. I've notice that when it is in this phase, the i-drive system does go to the "accept" screen when I restart the car but goes back to where it was before I turned off the car. Because it does not go back the the "accept" screen when I restart the car, I am assuming that the i-drive system is frozen and therefore a software problem.

I just find it amazing that my dealer said "there's no fix" for this. I paid $50k for a car and that's what they say??? I know some of you paid a lot more. That's just ridiculous. Logic 7 should have been standard then. My dealer said it only impacts cars without L7 as we don't have an extra amp.
I wonder how you open up some sort of case with BMWNA.

If that's what BMW said, this shows a real bad attitude by BMW.
They have sound engineers who work on the sound of a closing door or the sound of mufflers, and then they fail on "sound" systems !?
Unbelievable!
I'm just glad I have the L7.

THERE IS A FIX!!
Insist to have the product replaced. The cost of this product is $1,400 to $1,500 so the dealerships are really reluctant. I had my car brought in under the same conditions explained above on 4 occasions and so my dealership finally caved in.
This new replacement part has been in my car for over 3 months and not a problem with any static.

TSilver,
Where are you from? What dealership? Do you have the paperwork? What exactly was replaced? The CCC or MASK unit?
I'd love to refer my dealer to yours.
Thanks!

I never experienced this issue, but I can certainly understand the grief it causes. 555, doesn't CA have some of the better lemon laws in the country? I would go to the dealer and demand the same repair t silver had or I would begin the process of returning the car under the lemon law. It is unacceptable that your dealer has let this go on this long. Just my opinion.

I have been considering the Lemon Law. I would just like to have them fix it first.
The Lemon Law "buy back" is a last resort. Does anyone know how that works? Do they just exchange a car for me or are they going to try and give me less for mine since its now used?
I just need someone to tell me what was replaced that solved their issue. TS Silver says his was fixed, so I need to know what was replaced and the dealer. I think Chris (earlier in the thread) had his issue fixed too.
I just need a few more details.
Thanks all...

555, I agree totally, return/exchange under the lemon law is the last resort. I would definitely use it as a threat though. I am not versed in the law, but the dealer has three tries to fix and if he cannot you can return the car. From a couple of posts on this and other websites, it sounds like they give you a new car, not some lesser value because of depreciation or anything.
